On Saturday we went to my sisters to partake of food and watch some fireworks, gave me and C a chance to see and play with my nephew Thomas…but he was far more interested in playing with my sisters friends little girl (she’d invited them round as well).
Surprisingly, the fireworks didn’t bother Thomas one bit, but the little girl was scared of them and stayed inside either cuddling up to her father or hiding behind the sofa, Thomas kept going up to her and saying “Come outside”, as he couldn’t understand why she was frightened/scared.
But then, at one point we were all a little worried as first one firework went up…kind of, flew over the top of the fence and flew lowly across the road, we then heard a car beeping its horn…obviously and thankfully it had just missed hitting the car. Then the next one didn’t fly into the sky at all, it stayed on the ground and blew up, at that point we were all more than a little concerned about these fireworks bought from Tesco’s, and so the rest of them remained unused.
Apart from that we had a good evening, at one point Thomas and his friend dragged me and C to the spare room to play with them. I tried to get Thomas to say girls are stinky, but he simply laughed and replied,
“Boys and Girls are best, mum’s and dad’s are stinky winky”
This had me and C laughing. Out of the mouths of babes, as they say.
Now, some people seem to have no understanding of how dangerous fireworks can be, as on Sunday when I went to pick C up from work, I noticed that from the balcony of one of the top flats across the way from us, someone was firing fireworks, no only was this irresponsible, but it was highly dangerous and stupid. It would have taken all of one firework to fly into the flat for a big disaster to have happened. Thankfully nothing did happen.
