Sorry for the interruption folks, normal service should resume shortly.
Where was I, ah yes, we had a nice break in Denmark, during my two week break from work. While out there C found out she had got the job she’d gone for in Woolworths. So YAY!, we have more money coming in, this is very good especially as Xmas is fast approaching.
The following week she went to work, just knew something like that would happen, I get two weeks off from work, and she starts work. Ah well.
Anyway, I’ve been in my new job for two weeks now, and so far it’s been good…if a little boring. The first week saw me mostly reading through the corporate plans/guidance, staff code etc, and reading the procedure notes for some of the work I’ll be doing. So, whilst it was interesting, it was also boring. The journey to and from work isn’t as bad as I feared, door to door takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, whereas I was thinking it would be two hours. However, I have now found out that in the autumn next year, we’re actually moving offices, this should make the journey a little quicker each day. Though everyone keeps saying that there doesn’t actually seem to be enough room for all the people they want to move to the new building, sounds quite typical of the public sector.
The people are nice enough, though the layout of the office isn’t so good, and makes it hard to really have a good ‘chat’ with people. The building itself overlooks the Thames from the Southbank, and as we’re on the 7th floor it has quite a nice view, though my desk in situated to the back of the office and I have no windows, probably a good thing considering I’m not so keen on heights.
The walk from work to Westminster Station of an evening is quite nice, especially seeing The Houses Of Parliament all lit up, though I’m sure I’ll tire of it soon enough and start moaning about the walk each night.
