A Summers Day

A break of light shining through the curtains
Woken by the sun of summer
The birds chirping and singing
Flowers in bloom, their scent in the air
Animals out playing and having fun.

Children allowed out
Playing with friends
A purity of soul
An innocence we forget.

Nice long days, weather to bask in
From dawn to dusk, time to enjoy
Relaxing by a pond, or out with friends
Summer is a joy for all.

But just as quick, dark clouds form
A storm a summer storm
With rain and thunder, lightning too
A little cooler, the temperature dropping
But nice enough still, to have that BBQ.
