Global Wamring - Myth or Fact

Like most people, I firmally believed that Global Warming is a true fact. All you had to do was look outside, especially now in the middle of winter, and see the bright blue sky, and feel how mild it is compared to when you were child. And up until now I belived it, lead around by the media reports, the politicans, the arguements over the Kyoto Protocol, and the universal condemnation of the USA for not signing up to it.

But I don't any longer. What changed my views you might ask, the answer, a book by Michael Crichton, State of Fear, which deals with global warming, eco-terrorism and the politics behind it all. You might argue that it's just a book, it couldn't have any basis in real life, but it does. Throughout the book references are made to real scientific studies of the earth, temperatures, sea levels, carbon dioxide emissions. All of these studies show that yes, there are changes the earths temperature, fluctuations, but nothing out of the ordinary, the antarctic is getting colder not warmer with the ice shelf thickening instead of thining.

After reading all this in the book I thought it was time to do some research of my own, and used that most valuable tool the internet, and found page after page contradicting the common held belief of global warming.

The real question we should asking, is, with so much evidence to the contrary, why is there so little 'real' scientific work being done to investigate the phenomenon of Global Wamring, or perhaps more accurately should be called Global Climate Changes.

The worlds governments are spending billions each year to cut carbon dioxide production, yet it is firmly held in the scientific community that more carbon dioxides means more flourishing plant life as carbon dioxides are an essential part of a plants life.

Personaly I no longer belive that Global Wamring is true in the way that we have been lead to believe, perhaps the world is warming up, but we're at no greater risk than at any time previously in our history.

We all remember the Acid Rain scare of the late of 70's, the spread of exotic diseases of the 80's, the supposed influx of killer bees from Africa in the 80's. All science fiction, not fact. Is Global Warming nothing more than the latest invention of this type of scare. Designed to guarantee second rate scientists extortiante sums of money in the forms of government grants.
